Welcome to the new Southwest ADA Center Podcast! This podcast brings you highlights from the webcasts offered by the DBTAC Southwest ADA Center. Want to learn more about disability rights and access but don't have a lot of time? Check out this new podcast!

Hi, I'm Beth Case and I want to introduce you to a brand new podcast called the Southwest ADA Center Podcast. It's brought to you by the Southwest ADA Center, which is the leading resource in the Southwest on the Americans with Disabilities Act and the related disability rights laws. They're funded by a grant from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research and they provide technical assistance, training, materials and so forth to anyone who is affected by these laws, which really is pretty much anyone. It includes employers, businesses, government agencies, schools, and of course, people with disabilities themselves.

Now, one of the activities of the Center is a series of webcasts on a variety of disability-related topics. The webcasts are streamed over the internet for free, and real time captioning is provided for access for the deaf and hard of hearing participants. These webcasts are then archived and you can go back and listen to them at your convenience from your computer whenever you want. But, there's approximately four years of content and each show runs 1-2 hours long, so that is a lot of information to listen to. Which is where I come in.

Each week I'm going to bring you highlights from those webcasts and present them to you in a shorter, more portable format. Then you can decide if you want more in-depth information on that topic. So of course, each episode will tell you where you can go and listen to the full-length webcast that those highlights were taken from. Some of the podcast topics that I have planned are service animals, ADA accessibility guidelines and proposed changes to the ADA transportation regulations. And of course, the podcast will also have transcripts available on the website for the deaf and hard of hearing.

So if you want to learn more about disability rights and access but don't have a lot of time, then subscribe to the Southwest ADA Center Podcast which you can find at http://www.ada-podcast.com.
